St. Paul RCMP investigate robbery and aggravated assault

ST. PAUL – The St. Paul RCMP is investigating two separate incidents involving robbery and aggravated assault in St. Paul. 

On the evening of Sept.1, at approximately 5:40 p.m., an incident of robbery with violence occurred at the RCMP Park. According to authorities, two male individuals approached the victim who was hanging out with friends. During the encounter, one of the suspects placed the victim in a choke hold and took his wallet, cellular phone, and cash. While one of the suspects has been identified, the investigation is still ongoing. 

The arrested suspect, 26-year-old Cormac Crawford, from St. Paul, was charged with one count of robbery. He is currently in custody after refusing a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 7 in St. Paul. 

Aggravated Assault with a Weapon 

On Sept. 2, at approximately 11:30 a.m., the RCMP also responded to a report of a stabbing incident in front of Dollar Liquor on Main Street in St. Paul. RCMP located the victim, a 23-year-old male, suffering from multiple stab wounds in serious, life-threatening condition. 

The victim received immediate medical attention from EMS and was transported via STARS to Edmonton hospital for urgent medical care. The victim remains in serious condition. According to the RCMP, the attack was not random, and the parties involved know each other. 

Two suspects were apprehended. 

One of the suspects, 22-year-old Seth Shirt, a resident of Saddle Lake, faces charges including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and disobeying a court order. He was released from custody on a promise to pay $1,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 28 in St. Paul. 

Additionally, a 16-year-old resident from Saddle Lake, whose name cannot be disclosed due to their age, is also facing charges related to the incident, including aggravated assault and obstruction. The youth has been remanded into custody, with their next court appearance set for Sept. 7 in St. Paul.
