VERMILION - Two County of Vermilion River residents are facing a number of charges after Vermilion RCMP recovered two stolen vehicles along with drugs and a firearm on a property in the county on Dec. 12.

The bust is a result of a tip RCMP received that stolen property was at the location.

“This is an excellent example of RCMP members working with community members to achieve a common goal. The goal of course is holding our offenders accountable for their actions and increase public safety,” said Sgt. Corey Buckingham of Vermilion RCMP stated in a media release.

“Most of the work we do as police officers is very dynamic in nature, this is a great example of our members ability to think on their feet and investigate in a safe manner resulting in a positive outcome.”

Nicholas Desrochers, 31, was arrested and charged with: possession of stolen property over $5,000, four counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition, possession of a firearm knowing he was not the holder of a licence, unsafe storage of a firearm, four counts of failing to comply with a release order, and possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine.

Keisha Sharp, 27, was arrested and charged with: possession of stolen property over $5,000, failing to comply with a probation order and possession of illegal (non-taxed) cigarettes.

Desrochers was taken before a justice of the peace and remanded in custody with the next court date set for Jan. 15, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Vermilion.  Sharp was released from custody with the next court date set for Jan. 15, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Vermilion.
