TWO HILLS - A property owner keeping an eye out was able to contact police and a suspect was arrested allegedly in the act of stealing. After further investigation, a search warrant was obtained by police and drugs, a firearm and a stolen vehicle were seized from the suspects residence.

On July 27, at about 4:40 a.m., Two Hills RCMP received a report from a local property owner who had allegedly caught a suspect in the act of stealing.

"The property owner had items stolen the night before so was waiting for the thief to return. RCMP attended and arrested a male," according to information from RCMP.

As a result of the investigation, RCMP conducted a search warrant on the residence of the man who had been arrested and seized a quantity of suspected methamphetamine, cards from a wallet that was stolen, untaxed cigarettes, a shotgun and ammunition, the frame for a shed as well as a tarp reportedly stolen from the victim, and a stolen truck from a previous Two Hills file, as well as a vehicle which had a tampered VIN.

Jeff Day, 45, a resident of Two Hills County was charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime, and careless use of a firearm, among other charges.

Day was been released from custody and was scheduled to appear at Alberta Court of Justice in Two Hills on Aug. 11.
