Two Onoway residents face stolen property charges after arrest near Smoky Lake

SMOKY LAKE – A call to RCMP regarding a suspicious person on a rural property in the Smoky Lake area resulted in the arrest of two men on charges of possession of stolen property.

On Dec. 18 at approximately 7:40 p.m. Smoky Lake RCMP say they responded to a call of a suspicious person at a rural location on Highway 28 and Range Road 130. Two men were alleged to be attempting to steal property from the residence were located and subsequently both were arrested. During a search, RCMP report they “located numerous other stolen items in their possession.” 

Ronald Vernon Scott, 54, of Onoway has been charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000 and trespass at night.

Trevor Wayne Skoro, 50, also of Onoway, faces a charge of possession of stolen property under $5,000, trespass at night and failure to comply. 

Both were remanded in custody with their next court dates set for Jan. 25, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort Saskatchewan.
