The Village of Myrnam was put on lockdown this past Saturday evening after a man thought to be carrying a firearm was pursued by police, according to Elk Point RCMP Cst. Sarah Spaans.
Residents attending events at the curling and skating rink as well as the local school were kept inside after police attended the scene shortly after 8 p.m. The suspect fled on foot after being pulled over by police, Spaans confirmed.
RCMP officers from Two Hills, St. Paul, Vermilion and Elk Point detachments responded to the scene and eventually, with the help of the K-9 unit, caught the man and took him into custody early Sunday morning.
RCMP charged the man with uttering threats, operation of a motor vehicle after being pursued by police, unlawfully dwelling in a house and obstruction against a peace officer. The suspect’s name has not yet been released.
