BONNYVILLE – In April, a regular meeting of council for the MD of Bonnyville will be cancelled and a previously cancelled council meeting will be rescheduled.
On Feb. 28, administration proposed to schedule a regular meeting of council for April 11, which had been preemptively cancelled in October, while requesting the meeting currently scheduled for April 25 be cancelled.
“When council approved the scheduling of regular meetings of council in October 2022, a short list of meetings were cancelled due to the anticipation of council attending scheduled events and not being able to make quorum for the meeting,” explained Al Hoggan, the CAO for the municipality.
“This included the [cancellation of] a regular meeting of council on April 11 due to the scheduled Annual Alberta Economic Development Leaders’ Summit and Conference... To date, no members of council have registered for this event and registration now appears to be closed.”
It was also noted that multiple members of the MD’s administration will be away the week of April 24, to attend various conferences taking place during the week.
“We can still figure out how to do it, but there will be a significant gap in staff that week,” said Hoggan, responding to questions from council.
Council approved scheduling a regular meeting for April 11 and cancelling the April 25 regular meeting.
