Bonnyville Hospital treats six patients with COVID-19

Between Sept. 13 to 15, 11 people have been treated in hospital for COVID-19 in the Lakeland region, while four patients have been transferred elsewhere for a higher level of care.

More than a dozen Lakeland residents have been treated for COVID-19 in hospital between Sept. 13 to 15.

LAKELAND – As of Sept. 15, Covenant Health has confirmed that there are six patients being treated for complications related to COVID-19 at the Bonnyville Hospital.  

Alberta Health Services (AHS) has also reported to Lakeland Today, as of Sept. 13, there have been five patients with COVID-19 hospitalized in Lac La Biche, St. Paul, Elk Point and Cold Lake.  

Due to privacy concerns, specific site hospitalization numbers were not released by AHS.  

According to Sara Blake, a Senior Communications Advisor with AHS North Zone, “Over the past two weeks there have been approximately four patients from AHS sites in the Lakeland region transferred elsewhere in order to receive a higher level of care.”  

From Sept. 8 to 14, the provinces North Zone reported 3,254 active COVID-19 cases.

In Alberta, there are currently 18,421 active cases of COVID-19. There are 877 people being treated in hospital with the virus, while 218 patients have been admitted to ICU care.
