Bonnyville RCMP Report: Fights, thefts, and bad driving keep police busy

BONNYVILLE – Bonnyville RCMP received multiple 911 calls about two men fighting in the basement of a residence in town.

After locating the residence on 44 Ave., officers arrested the two men for mischief on Aug. 24 just before midnight.

A 24-year-old Bonnyville man was later charged with mischief for property damage after kicking and damaging the door of a police vehicle.

The second man, a 25-year-old from North Battleford, was charged with resisting arrest and failing to comply (liquor condition).

Possible bar fight broken up

Shortly before midnight on Aug. 22, local RCMP attended a "possible bar fight" at the Crown & Derby pub in Bonnyville.

When police arrived on scene, one group was leaving with a sober adult and the other was allowed to remain at the establishment by the employees. Officers gave the group a verbal warning.

Vehicle shot at with paintball on Hwy. 28

Police are looking for any information from the public after a vehicle driving on Highway 28 was shot at with a paintball by a passing vehicle.

On Aug. 24 at 8:53 p.m., a complainant called RCMP to report that a white Jeep Cherokee with Saskatchewan license plates was tailgating him. When the Jeep passed, the driver shot a paintball gun at the complainant's window.

The suspect vehicle was last seen heading east bound on Highway 28 toward Cold Lake.

Boat patrol on Moose Lake

While RCMP were completing a boat patrol on Aug. 23, dispatch was received for a stranded boater on Moose Lake.

Members attended the location, and the complainant was able to get the boat started. Police followed the complainant to the boat launch to ensure they got their safely.

Stolen license plate

A complainant called RCMP on Aug. 23 to report that his license plate was stolen sometime over the previous five day while his vehicle was parked on the east side of the Bonnyville Card Lock lot.

The stolen plate is Alberta license plate BKG5177.

Investigation continues into stolen vehicle

A stolen vehicle is believed to be involved in "other complaints of suspicious activity."

Police received a report of a stolen white 2007 Chevrolet half ton around 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 27. RCMP believe the vehicle was involved in other complainants they received throughout the night about suspicious activity.

Video surveillance is being gathered as the investigation is ongoing.
