BONNYVILLE – Police have recovered two trucks that were stolen from an autobody shop in Bonnyville overnight on March 30, and have arrested two men for being in possession of those stolen vehicles.

According to Bonnyville RCMP, sometime overnight into the early hours of March 30 suspects broke into the autobody shop, stealing a lockbox of vehicle keys and two trucks, a 2019 Ford F350 and a 2023 Chevrolet 3500 HD Silverado.

The stolen 2019 Ford F350 was allegedly located by RCMP at a residence in Kehewin.

“Several people were arrested and interviewed, and a search warrant was executed at the residence. All but one of the arrested persons were released without charges,” states an RCMP media release.

Bruce Poitras, 44, of Kehewin is charged with possession of the stolen Ford truck.

Poitras was brought before a Justice of the Peace and released to appear in court on April 25.

The second stolen truck, the 2023 Chevrolet, was located in Edmonton later that night by Edmonton Police Service (EPS), according to RCMP.

Clayton Cardinal, 43, of Kehewin was alleged to be in possession of the truck.

Cardinal is being charged by EPS with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and for his involvement in the theft of vehicles in Bonnyville, which remains under investigation.
