Can you escape the village? Glendon Scavenger hunt returns

‘With no cell service you head into the gas station where you are greeted by a robotic-like person with a large head and even larger smile. Feeling unsafe, you exit the station and head out into the village,’ reads an excerpt from this year’s Glendon Agricultural Society annual scavenger hunt.
The Village of Glendon has passed their interim budget for 2018.

GLENDON – Lakeland residents, are you ready to escape the Village of Glendon?

On April 29, the Glendon Agricultural Society is hosting its annual scavenger hunt. This year’s theme is Escape from the Village.

Similar to an escape room, teams will have to work together to solve several problems located throughout the village. Teams that successfully complete each task will receive puzzle pieces, once the final puzzle is complete, the team will have escaped.

The scavenger hunt will be limited to the first 25 teams that RSVP or show up on the day of the event.

To guarantee your spot, teams can call event organizer Olga Oszust at 780-815-3689 to sign up early.

“I am getting calls about it already,” said Oszust. She encourages people to call ahead to make sure there is still space available.

Oszust added that while there is no limit on the number of people that can make up a team, she said having either a large or small team comes with its own pros and cons.

The three fastest teams to Escape from the Village will receive prizes. But that’s not all, a prize will also be provided for the team with the best “Tacky Tourist” costume.

If prizes and a day of fun aren’t enough to convince Lakeland residents to participate, Oszust said this year’s scavenger hunt storyline might do just the trick.

“You have arrived at a village to get some gas before heading back home, which is still several hours away. Everyone steps out of the vehicle to stretch their legs as you fill the tank with gas.

As you are filling up your vehicle, a stranger gets in your car and takes off. You and your friends are stunned by just what happened.

With no cell service you head into the gas station where you are greeted by a robotic-like person with a large head and even larger smile. Feeling unsafe, you exit the station and head out into the village.

All around you there are the same ‘people’ with large heads and large smiles wanting you to stay. They tell you and your group the only way you can leave is if you solve several puzzles. Your mission is to collect all the puzzle pieces and put the puzzle together in order to escape the village.”
