Despite Thursday's thundershowers, the Town and MD of Bonnyville continue to be under fire ban.
The rain from the storm has not impacted the fire risk, according to a statement issued by the Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority. The fire ban will stay in place until fire conditions improve significantly. Between 25 – 50 millimetres of rain is needed for the extreme fire hazard rating to decline.
The fire ban prohibits open burning, burning barrels, fire pits, charcoal barbecues, gas-fuelled portable fire pits and fireworks. Gas-fuelled barbecues are permitted.
