BONNYVILLE - The Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority says a fire near Highway 660 is being held.
An update was provided Sunday evening just before 10 p.m.
"Thanks to the quick response and coordinated efforts from all involved, the wildfire near Highway 660 is now being held," reads the update from the BRFA.
Crews from Glendon, Iron River, Bonnyville, La Corey, Fort Kent, and Cherry Grove are all helping, along with Alberta Forestry, the MD of Bonnyville, Bonnyville RCMP, the MD of Bonnyville CPOs, Absolute Multicorp, Allpex Oilfield Services and Tri Rez Grader LP, Star Helicopter, Randy Batke, and many residents who have assisted during the response.
"Your support, hard work, and teamwork have been instrumental in preventing further spread of the fire," according to the BRFA.
Crews will be working through the night and into tomorrow to ensure hotspots are extinguished and the area remains secure.
"We ask the public to allow emergency personnel to safely complete their work."
