Four arrested at Bonnyville Sobeys

Four suspects were arrested at the Bonnyville Sobeys earlier this week after police from various detachments and units followed a stolen vehicle into the parking lot.

Four suspects were arrested at the Bonnyville Sobeys earlier this week after police from various detachments and units followed a stolen vehicle into the parking lot.

Three adults and a youth were travelling in a stolen truck on Tuesday, June 25, that Bonnyville RCMP S/Sgt. Sarah Parke said "drove through a few different detachment areas."

“Police from those other areas were able to locate and follow the stolen truck to where it came to a stop at 3the Sobeys parking lot in Bonnyville,” she continued.

Members from the Bonnyville and Cold Lake detachments, as well as General Investigation Sections, Cold Lake Police Dog Services, and the Eastern Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit, worked together to arrest the suspects.

According to Parke, three were arrested in the vicinity of the truck, while the fourth was apprehended inside of the grocery store.

Dustin Harper, a 23-year-old Onion Lake male, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and disobeying a court order.

Lonnie McAdam, who is suspected of driving the stolen vehicle, is a 27-year-old Onion Lake male. He has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, disobeying a court order, and driving while prohibited.

A 14-year-old female youth, who can't be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, faces charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of methamphetamine.

The fourth accused is an 18-year-old female. She is facing possession of stolen property over $5,000 charges.

Bar fight takes a turn

A man has been charged with assault with a weapon after police were called to a local drinking establishment on June 22.

It was 1:30 a.m. when RCMP were dispatched to a Bonnyville pub, where an altercation between two patrons had taken place.

According to police, a 45-year-old Okotoks male attacked another male with a glass and was charged with assault with a weapon as a result.

Unwanted male gets caught driving while impaired

A 25-year-old Bonnyville male was caught drinking and driving after RCMP were called about a disturbance at a local apartment complex.

The suspect had attended the apartment, and even through he was unwanted, entered.

"He had an argument with two of the people inside," detailed Parke, adding the male left the apartment in a vehicle before police arrived.

“He was located a short distance away and is being charged with being unlawfully in a dwelling house, mischief, failing to comply with an undertaking, operation of a motor vehicle while impaired over .08, operation while impaired, and operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited."

Stolen vehicle leads police to weapons

Brett Gadwa, a 33-year-old Kehewin male, has been charged with multiple weapons offences.

Police received a report of a possible stolen vehicle at a residence in Kehewin on June 26.

It was around 1:30 p.m. when officers responded and confirmed the vehicle in question had been reported stolen.

After obtaining a search warrant, RCMP located the keys associated with the vehicle, and Gadwa, who happened to have a rifle laying next to him in bed.

“He’s been charged with six different weapons offences, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, careless use of a firearm, and two counts of breaching a recognizance,” stated Parke.
