Hometown boy Clayton Bellamy will be back in Bonnyville this coming weekend and he's bringing some friends along for the ride for what is sure to be an incredible three days at Extreme Mudfest.

Backed up by his Road Hammer brethren Jason McCoy and Chris Byrne, the popular Canadian country-rock group will be performing at Extreme Mudfest this coming Saturday and, after speaking to the Nouvelle last week, the band said they can't wait to be back in Alberta.

“I'm so incredibly pumped for this show – for me, this is going to be my highlight of the summer,” Bellamy said. “Coming off of such a great tour with Wheels, to end it all in my hometown is just off the hook.”

The concert will mark The Road Hammers' first visit to Bonnyville in over seven years and lead vocalist Jason McCoy said he is excited to return to Bellamy's hometown.

“It should be a great show – this is Clay's hometown and I know he's super excited to be coming back. (Our home) really is at the heart of everything we do,” McCoy said. “Alberta has always been a great market for us – Clay and Chris are both from there and I lived there when I was a little guy for a while. We all love Alberta.”

Featuring hit singles such as ‘East Bound and Down', ‘Girl on the Billboard' and ‘Mud', Bellamy promised a great show for all those in attendance this coming weekend.

“We have a bunch of great new music we're going to be debuting off of our new Fueled by Rednecks record, so we're super excited for that,” Bellamy said. “It's always a really high energy, loud, country rock and roll show when you're with The Road Hammers. Our roots are pretty firmly seeded with bands like the Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd – lots of loud guitars and a ton of crowd interaction.”

He added, “That's one thing people can be sure of is crowd interaction and participation. We're firm believers that we aren't the ones that make the concert, the fans are the ones that do that for us. We're just the soundtrack. So there will be lots of bringing people in and making them part of the show… That's honestly the best part for us.”

“This is going to be a great show, both for the crowd and for us,” McCoy said. “We're going to be coming in and mixing things up quite a bit. There's a lot of talent in this band, so there will be a surprise or two for the crowd.”

He added, “Most of all though, we just really want to show off Clay. He's the rockstar of the band and this will be his first time back in Bonnyville for a couple of years, so this is going to be an awesome moment for him.”
