BONNYVILLE – After sitting empty for about four months following extensive renovations, the Bonnyville and District Centennial Centre’s (C2) Agriplex, now known as the GenMec ACL Hall, is open for businesses – and of course, public use.
The newly renovated facility will add more space to the C2 for community events, family celebrations, sports and drop-in activities for all ages.
“After Bonnyville Centralized High School vacated that part of our facility, we jumped at the opportunity to upgrade the space to be more conducive to meeting our community needs,” said Les Parsons, the C2’s general manager.
The opening of the new hall was delayed due to faulty connections between the facility’s old and new fire alarm systems.

Despite ongoing challenges, the C2 received temporary occupancy of the hall from the provincial fire authority until upgrades to the fire panel can be completed, Parsons told Lakeland This Week.
“We are very grateful for GenMec ACL, not only for the work that they have done to upgrade the facility but for their financial contribution,” added Parsons.
The renovation would not have been possible without the Government of Alberta’s Community Facility Enhancement Project (CFEP) Grant, along with financial support from the Town and MD of Bonnyville.
