The MD of Bonnyville public safety department has notified the Alberta SPCA of the death of an animal, after a cow was found dead on a rural property.
According to director of public safety Chris Garner, the organization is looking into the incident.
“The Alberta SPCA is back in the area… We had a complaint about a dead cow that could be seen from the road. We took a look and it was obvious the cow had probably starved to death. We have the Alberta SPCA involved and they’re having a look into that," he said during their regular council meeting on Wednesday, May 22.

Kinosoo Adventure Park update
"We've done the surveying for the adventure park, so if you go up to Kinosoo, you can actually see all of the stakes are in place," detailed MD parks, recreation, and culture director Chris McCord.
She explained how a rare plant species was found during their plant study.
"We're waiting to determine if it's in one or two phases. If it's a phase four, we have nothing to worry about, and a phase three would just require a decision from Alberta Parks," McCord continued, adding she doesn't think it will cause too much of an issue.

Dogs continue to be a concern
The MD's public safety department have received dozens of dog complaints from residents.
“There’s lots of dog complaints. We had 29 in the last few weeks, mostly running loose. We’ve also had dogs chasing livestock and dogs killing other people’s pets, trying to bite cyclists on roads, and we took a dog out of a home that was being neglected. We took it to the SPCA and it was adopted,” noted Garner.
Council approves lending a hand
The Bonnyville Toxic Round-Up Committee was seeking $2,500 from the MD for their annual event being held June 22.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the public are invited to drop-off items such as paint, oil, electronics, and household chemicals, among others, at the Bonnyville Fire Hall for disposal.
Council approved the funding request before moving on to discussing the Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Association's (CPCA) ask of 30 picnic tables and two sets of livestock panels for their upcoming event.
The MD agreed to lend a hand for the chuckwagon races being held at the Bonnyville rodeo grounds June 28-30.
