RCMP hault Jorgenson's fraudulent rampage

Ashley Nicole Jorgenson, 32, appeared in Bonnyville court last week to face five fraud related charges for crimes committed throughout Alberta.

Jorgenson's fraudulent rampage saw her commit a series of crimes throughout central and northeastern Alberta and resulted in a total of 56 fraud related charges.

Her crimes, many of which were committed against local businesses by using stolen credit cards and stolen credit card numbers, are going to be dealt with by Bonnyville, Cold Lake, St. Paul and Fort Saskatchewan courts.

In Bonnyville Jorgenson faces charges for fraud under $5,000, unauthorized use of a credit card, and breach of probation.

Some of the other charges Jorgenson faces include fraud, theft, possession of property obtained by crime, using stolen credit cards, using a forged document, obtaining food and lodging by fraud, fraudulently personating another person, failing to comply with a probation order an being unlawfully at large.

"By the string of crimes that she committed over a very short period of time, she posed a significant financial risk of loss to several businesses in our detachment area and in other detachment areas," said Cold Lake Staff Sergeant Jeremie Landry.

After a warrant for Jorgenson's arrest was issued on Aug. 24, the Bonnyville woman evaded the RCMP for 23 days before the Cold Lake RCMP caught up and arrested her on Sept. 17.

"As far as being able to catch up to her, build a case against her and have her brought before the court, that gives us a sense of relief, as well as I'm sure a sense of relief for our local businesses," said Landry.

Police are asking anyone with information about an unreported crimes they believe Jorgenson may have been involved in to report it to their nearest RCMP detachment.

Jorgenson appeared in a Bonnyville court on Sept. 22 via CCTV from the Edmonton Remand Centre. She also had scheduled court appearances in Cold Lake, St. Paul and Fort Saskatchewan.

Her next scheduled appearance in Bonnyville is set for Oct. 6.
