RCMP release information following fatal collision

Bonnyville RCMP have released some details following a fatal MVC on Friday that claimed the life of a 60-year-old man.

BONNYVILLE - Bonnyville RCMP have released some information regarding a Friday morning motor vehicle collision that claimed the life of a 60-year-old driver from Mannville, Alta.

At about 9 a.m., on Aug. 20, Bonnyville RCMP responded to a report of a fatal collision on Hwy. 660, just east of Range Rd. 455.

The 60-year-old driver was the lone occupant of a gravel truck and was declared deceased on scene. A 54-year-old driver from Bonnyville, the lone driver of the semi-truck, has since been released from hospital, according to police.

Emergency crews cleared the highway on Aug. 21. An RCMP Collision Analyst was engaged and is assisting with the ongoing investigation.

No other updates are anticipated to be released, according to RCMP.

The MD of Bonnyville confirmed Friday morning that a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Sec. Hwy. 660 and Range Rd. 455 claimed the life of an MD employee.

MD of Bonnyville CAO Al Hoggan issued a statement, saying, "The Council and staff of the Municipal District of Bonnyville wish to extend our deepest sympathies to the families affected by the fatal accident that occurred this morning, within the municipality. An MD employee was killed and another driver critically injured in an accident near the intersection of Sec. Hwy. 660 and Range Rd. 455, where the MD’s Infrastructure Services Shop is located... Operations at Infrastructure Services have been shut down for the day, and grief counselling will be made available to staff."
