Vehicle rollover attributed to impaired driving

An 18-year-old Bonnyville driver was issued a Provincial Sanction for impaired driving following a single vehicle roll over that occurred earlier this week within the MD of Bonnyville. Over the last week, two other drivers, a 19-year-old and a 36-year-old, have been issued Provincial Sanctions for impaired driving and have had their vehicles impounded.

BONNYVILLE – Just 12 minutes after midnight on April 22, Bonnyville RCMP members were dispatched to a report of a single vehicle rollover in the MD of Bonnyville.  

When police arrived on scene at Range Road 460, the male driver was allegedly displaying signs of impairment.  

“A Mandatory Alcohol Screening was conducted and the 18-year-old driver from Bonnyville failed,” states an RCMP press release.  

The 18-year-old man was issued Provincial Sanction for Impaired Driving. 

Multiple drivers found impaired 

On April 25, Bonnyville RCMP member attempted to initiate a traffic stop of a vehicle that was allegedly speeding in the area of Highway 657 in the MD of Bonnyville.  

According to RCMP, the operator of the vehicle attempted to flee from police. When police completed the traffic stop, a 19-year-old male driver was arrested and was reportedly showing signs of impairment. 

Police performed a Mandatory Alcohol Screening, which the driver is alleged to have failed. 

The 19-year-old was issued a Provincial Sanctions and his vehicle was impounded. 

The next day on April 26, the Bonnyville RCMP began receiving multiple reports around 8:20 a.m. of a suspected impaired driver travelling through school zones in the Town of Bonnyville. 

The suspect vehicle was later located on Range Road 460 and stopped by police.  

“The driver displayed signs of impairment and was arrested and lodged in RCMP cells,” an RCMP media release states.  

The 63-year-old woman was issued Provincial Sanction and her vehicle was impounded.
