Community members and firefighters came out to a fundraising barbecue to support the people affected by a serious structure fire that destroyed three homes in the Tri City Estates neighbourhood on Sept. 2. Fire Chief Jeff Fallow describes responding to the intensive blaze.

RCMP are investigating a string of suspicious fires that have occurred in recent weeks in Cold Lake and surrounding areas. A fire that spread to three residential properties on Sept. 2, has been deemed 'suspicious' following an initial investigation.

Cold Lake RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying those responsible for an overnight break-in and alleged theft from the Muster Point Restaurant. The incident happened overnight on Aug. 27.

A new Emergency Medical Services provider is now operating out of the City of Cold Lake. The transition is the result of the former service provider Cold Lake Ambulance Society’s ‘decision to cease ambulance operations.’ As of Sept. 1, Associated Ambulance has taken over Cold Lake’s ambulance operations.

Two people from the Lakeland region have been arrested and charged in relation to the alleged theft of a vehicle from Grande Prairie, and further using that vehicle to assault and evade police.

The emergency department for Cold Lake Healthcare Centre will be closed overnight tonight, Tuesday, Aug. 30, from 11 p.m. until 7 a.m. the following morning.

Charges have been laid against three individuals, including one 17-year-old, in relation to a shooting that occurred on July 10 in the area of the Cold Lake First Nations, which sent one man to hospital in serious condition.

The local team is now preparing to host the national championship in September.
