The Cold Lake business community came together in celebration on Oct. 25, as the Cold Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Business of the Year Awards. 

Cold Lake’s own charity marathon runner, Curtis Hargrove, accomplished an extraordinary feat by completing the Chicago Marathon in high heels on Oct. 13, raising awareness and funds for domestic violence survivors. 

City of Cold Lake councillors unanimously passed a motion to send a letter to the Alberta Minister of Affordability and Utilities, Nathan Neudorf, expressing the municipality’s concerns regarding the growing disparity in electricity distribution charges between northern and southern Alberta communities. 

A 54-year-old woman was hit by a small electric vehicle on Cold Lake’s Millennium Trail and seriously injured on Oct. 28, prompting RCMP to temporarily close the popular path as they investigated the incident.

The City of Cold Lake welcomed residents to an open house at the Lakeland Inn on Oct. 24, where attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and address concerns in an open questions and answer session. 

The public is being asked to avoid using or accessing the Millennium Trail between 75 Avenue and 69 Avenue (Museum Way) as a police investigation is taking place.

The annual Portage College fall open house took place at the Portage College Lac La Biche campus on Monday, Oct. 21.

COLD LAKE - The Cozy Kids initiative, hosted by Stepping Stones Crisis Society and Orbiting Trends in Cold Lake, is making sure that children in the community stay warm during the winter months. 

COLD LAKE - The Cold Lake Stepping Stones Crisis Society held an open house on Oct. 23, giving the public a chance to meet staff, tour the facility, and learn more about the organization’s services and mission.

The City of Cold Lake has officially annexed two quarter sections of land from the MD of Bonnyville, a move approved by an Order in Council, effective as of Oct. 1.
