ELK POINT - It was a night of many changes on Saturday, Sept. 16 as the Community Lions of Elk Point hosted an evening of dining, fashion and entertainment by the many faces of Bonnie Kilroe at her star-studded best in ‘Divas.'

After feasting on steaks barbecued by members of the Elk Point Lions Club and sumptuous salads and desserts prepared by the Community Lions, it was time to sit back and enjoy a showcase of the latest styles from Elle Rain Boutique displayed by local models. Both dressy and casual wear, along with some cozy winter apparel was shown at its best as models crossed the stage and came down to the floor of the Allied Arts and Leisure Centre to give the appreciative audience a closer look.

After the models lined up to take a bow, the audience had an opportunity for an even closer look at this fall’s fashions, and even to purchase a very wearable souvenir of the evening to add to their wardrobes.

Then it was showtime, Kilroe bursting through the curtains as Lisa Minnelli to invite everyone to “Come to the Cabaret,” and just as fast, disappearing to almost instantly reappear as the frowsy Edith Bunker, singing the traditional “Those Were the Days” theme from ‘All In The Family’.

Songs ranging from “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” to ‘I Love Rock ’n Roll’, all with fast paced changes of costume and voice to match the songs’ original singers led up to one of the hits of the evening, with ‘Marilyn Monroe’ belting out “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend’ and some of her other hits, including  “I Want to Be Loved By You.” ‘Madonna’ and ‘Tina Turner’ followed with their biggest hits before ‘Sharon Osbourne’ came onstage, then offstage to pick out one of the few men in the audience to fill in for Ozzy.

‘Reba McEntire’ bounced on stage urging the audience to join in with “Why?” quickly followed by a much quieter ‘Julie Andrews’ and “My Favorite Things” before ‘Shania Twain’ came out with “Don’t Be Stupid” and “You Don’t Impress Me Much.”

The ultra-busty ‘Dolly Parton’ saluted all the working women with “Nine to Five” and invited everyone to join in the chorus of “Jolene”, before the show wound up with ‘Cher’, who came offstage to track down a replacement ‘Sonny’ to join her in “I’ve Got You, Babe.”

As the applause for her own performance quieted, Kilroe called for another well-deserved round of applause, this one for the Community Lions and all their volunteers who put together this incredible evening of fun, laughter and entertainment enjoyed by all.
