ELK POINT – The Elk Point Allied Arts might just be one of the busiest places in town right now, with twice-weekly rehearsals well underway for this year’s pre-Christmas dinner theatre presentation, ‘You Can’t Beat the House.'

The play hits the stage on Nov. 24 for four evening performances over two weekends and a Sunday brunch matinee on Nov. 26, and has a very interesting cast of characters, from housebreakers who instantly become real estate agents when prospective buyers come to check out the house. It gets a bit complicated when the real realtor shows up, the burglars’ getaway car gets towed and the prospective buyer’s mother and a medium – did we tell you the house is haunted? – shows up.

It’s billed as a “screwball comedy” and it’s definitely sounding like another hit for the Allied Arts cast as they follow their long tradition of pre-Christmas theatre entertainment.

That’s not the only entertainment coming up at Allied Arts in the near future. The long-running Elk Point Community Choir has been back on stage with their weekly sessions on Sunday, Sept. 10 for another season.

And there’s more, this time without music or acting involved.  The Allied Arts has a brand new item on their calendar as of Thursday, Oct. 26, when they hold their first Farmers Market in the main hall, with a garage sale type component in the serving room and a grand opening scheduled for 2 p.m. that day. RubyAnn Kittlitz is still seeking vendors.
