Incumbent Parrish Tung defeated former town councillor Dick Millar by more than 100 votes in yesterday’s civic election to earn his third term as Elk Point mayor.
“I thank all the townspeople for their votes. I will try to do my best to justify their confidence in me,” Mayor Tung said by phone shortly after he was declared elected.
Tung collected 257 votes as compared to an even 150 for Millar.
Incumbent councillors Bernice Capjack and Dwayne Yaremkevich will be joined on the new council by newcomers Ron Fraess and Eugene Buck. The new council will be sworn in at next Monday’s organizational meeting.
