Radioactive device stolen from local oilfield site
Thieves steal radioactive device from oilfield truck. Lac La Biche and Fort McMurray RCMP are searching for someone who has stolen something that could be more trouble than it's worth. Police say a radioactive device was stolen sometime over the last three days from a pickup truck parked at an area oilfield site.

Lac La Biche Lake unsafe for swimming, drinking after blue-green algae bloom, AHS warns
Alberta Health Services issued an advisory Aug. 19 that blue-green algae is present in the lake. The advisory warned residents and visitors to not drink the water in the lake or let their pets drink it, even after boiling, not to swim in the lake and to avoid contact with algae on the shoreline.
