Tim Bingley won first place in the B-Train category at the Alberta Motor Transport Association’s (AMTA) Professional Truck Driving Championships, which took place in Nisku on May 31.

The facility, which is run by the Lakeland Out of the Elements Shelter Society (LOESS) and is comprised of five camp trailers on seven acres of fenced, municipally-owned land near Alexander Hamilton Park, moved to its current location in January 2024.

The program is run by the Lac La Biche Regional Humane Society

The Young Entrepreneurs Training Initiative (YETI) is being facilitated by Community Futures Lac La Biche and runs throughout the summer months.

Despite higher humidity and some precipitation that has fallen the regional fire chief for Lac La Biche County says the fire index remains high and urges residents to use caution when burning or enjoying campfires.

The event, which was organized by the Lac La Biche Trappers Local 1120 and the Alberta Trappers Association, took place from July 4-5 at the Plamondon Festival Centre.

A lightening strike is believed to have been the cause of a fire which resulted in the loss of the 80-year-old church.

The event featured a pancake breakfast, live music, children's entertainment, as well as a mass inside of the historic church on the Mission site.
