LAC LA BICHE - People wanting to enjoy fried fish, socialize and listen to some live music could find all those things in one place at the Lac La Biche Pow Wow Days community fish fry on July 31 at McArthur Place.
Volunteers with the Rotary Club of Lac La Biche were on hand to fry the walleye that had come from Ile-a-la-crosse Fish Company, an Indigenous-owned enterprise from northern Saskatchewan.
The fish, along with coleslaw, buns, corn on the cob, and cake, was served to the large group. The community fish fry is an event that has kicked off Lac La Biche Pow Wow Days for many years.
As the crowd mingled and ate their dinner, the husband-and-wife duo of Valere and Yvonne Plamondon, who make up the group ‘Dusty Roads’, performed on the stage set up inside McArthur Place.
At 6 p.m., the 2025 Citizen of the Year, MJ Siebold, was introduced to the crowd, and presented with an award plague. The Citizen of the Year designation, which is put on by the Lac La Biche and District Chamber of Commerce, recognizes outstanding community service and contributions made by residents of the Lac La Biche area.
Lac La Biche Pow Wow Days includes a long list of events taking place throughout the Heritage Day long weekend.
