Event offers outdoor music and a chance to socialize

The 'Music and Connection' event took place at McArthur Park on the evening of Wednesday, Aug. 21.

LAC LA BICHE - The small group of people who gathered in McArthur Park on the evening of Aug. 21 for the ‘Music and Connection’ event had the opportunity to meet and socialize, while enjoying live music at an outdoor venue.

During the event, local youths Amri McKay and Leland Cardinal, took turns performing on the stage at the McArthur Park gazebo.

Kristen Shewchuk of Lac La Biche County FCSS said 'Music and Connection' is a summer program targeting adults and newcomers to the community.

“My hope with the program is to get people that are maybe new to our community or have struggled to make connections. And this is a safe, fun environment where they can just enjoy some music, but also have the opportunity to meet others,” she told Lakeland This Week.

Shewchuk said FCSS hosted an event at McArthur Park in July with Plamondon-based country and rock duo Dusty Road entertaining those who turned out for the evening of music and socialization.
