Lac La Biche Lakers face Edson and Gibbons this weekend

While they managed to win at home, the Lac La Biche Lakers dropped two away games over the Nov. 29 weekend, and are hoping their next two games – this Friday and Saturday – improve their standing in the Northern Junior Hockey League.

It was an up and down three-game series for the Lakers, defeating the Northern Alberta Lightning in a close 6-5 overtime game at the Bold Center on the evening of Friday, Nov. 29, but then dropping a 10-1 decision to the Edson Eagles the following day. The Lakers played a rematch against the Lightning on Sunday, Dec. 1, starting off the month with a 7-6 loss.

The Lakers, who currently hold fourth spot in their five-team NJHL North Division, will be hitting the ice for five more games before the final buzzer sounds on 2024.

For this week, the team will be facing off against the Edson Eagles in a 7:30 p.m. home match on Friday, Dec. 6 and an away game against the Gibbons Pioneers at the Redwater Arena.
