Council to hear from Chamber members about downtown disruptions due to construction project

A cut cable in Edmonton caused widespread Internet and cellular outages across northern Alberta on Aug. 13.

Pat Boone Anderson and Paul Shaw, a retired teacher and nurse respectively, receive the Citizen of the Year award while long-time Lac La Biche resident Donalda Toutant is named Senior of the Year.

Lac La Biche County recently entered into a partnership with the Village of Boyle, the Town of Athabasca, Athabasca County as well as First Nations and Metis settlements to come up with a regional approach to improving healthcare.

For the time being, the Province is focused on crime reduction, and addressing addiction issues.

Lucille Laboucan, a member of Fox Lake in Little Red River Cree Nation, has been living in Lac La Biche since early May with her son and daughter after the community located 850 kilometers north of Edmonton was evacuated.

A fireworks show was the perfect ending for a weekend full of fun activities that took place as part of 2023 Lac La Biche Summer Days.

The Government of Alberta released a list of evacuation centres for residents who are coming south, following the evacuation of several communities in the Northwest Territories due to wildfire. The community of Lac La Biche is included in that list.
