Philip Byrne of EllisDon, a construction services company that is helping to build the new swimming pool in Lac La Biche, says construction is going good, with the basement walls and slab done.

Andy Cardinal, Rio Ladoucer, and Muhammad Al Hamida, along with Ken Scullion, head coach of the Lac La Biche Boxing Club, and co-coach Jeremy Trimble, were at the Dr. Adams Grand Prix of Boxing event, which took place in Stony Plain on Saturday, Dec. 21.

RCMP remind people to check the thickness of ice, never to go out alone, and be mindful of fluctuating temperatures.

The manager Lac La Biche Sporting Goods says customers have been purchasing augers, bait, tents, tackle, and lures for ice fishing on lakes.

Members of Lac La Biche RCMP attended 12 calls for service from 7 p.m. on New Year’s Eve to 7 p.m. on New Year’s Day.

On Dec. 13, a group of youth from the Lac La Biche area were getting into the festive spirit in a comical way by participating in a murder-mystery event called ‘Crime at Christmastime.’  

The large wooden entrance sign welcoming people to Lac La Biche heading north on Highway 36 has been heavily damaged.

From Jan. 3-10, those visiting the emergency department at the William J. Cadzow Healthcare Centre in Lac La Biche may be unable to see a doctor during certain hours of the day and night due temporary disruptions in service.
