ST. PAUL - This year’s Christmas Bird Count for the Town and County of St. Paul marks the 30th consecutive year that this activity is being held in this area.

The local town and county count will run from Dec. 15 to Jan. 3, inclusive.

Anyone wishing to participate is asked to do observations and counts on as many days as you wish and for as many hours as you wish. Observations can be a feeder watch or field observations.

When doing a feeder watch, observers are asked to report the largest number of birds seen at any one time and not a running calculation. For example, if on Dec. 17 you see six Black-Capped Chickadees in a group and on Dec. 18 you see four, you should report the six and not a total 10.

When reporting your count, please indicate your name and the number in your household or group who participated and which counts were carried out in the Town or County of St. Paul.

This event can be a great challenge among families or friends to see who comes up with the greatest number of the 30 to 40 species that are here for the winter.

A complete report will be published at the conclusion of this activity.

Reports can be submitted until Jan. 7, 2022, by email to [email protected] or by phone or text message to 780-614-1571.

A random draw for prizes from all the reports submitted will be given, one for town participants and one for county participants.
