Bonnyville Chamber finds new home on Main Street

The Bonnyville and District Chamber of Commerce has purchased a property along 50 Ave to function as the non-profit's new headquarters.

BONNYVILLE – The Bonnyville and District Chamber of Commerce has announced its new location after being required to relocate when its lease agreement with the MD of Bonnyville for operations at the Shaw House was terminated in March.

The Chamber’s new location is on Main Street, situated between the Lakeland Credit Union and Cashco Financial.

“We are truly excited to have a place to call home located close to the businesses we passionately serve,” states Serina Parsons, the executive director of the Bonnyville Chamber in a media release.

“It was a tough decision but once we viewed all the possibilities, this aligned with our strategic growth and priorities.”

The Chamber made the decision to purchase the property, which was previously operated as a law office, after ruling out numerous other locations.

“It was a tough, yet exciting decision. This building is not perfect and currently has some accessibility issues, which is an important consideration for us. However, in relation to other available locations, this one met our needs for both space and cost,” continues Parsons.

The Chamber will be applying for grants and has expressed a commitment to working with local contractors to help alleviate the physical barriers of its new location.

Until modifications to the new building are made, Chamber staff will accommodate any meetings by selecting venues outside the chamber office when requested, states the Chamber.

The Chamber expects to completely move out of the Shaw House by the end of August.

During the non-profit's relocation, the Shaw House will not be available for public bookings effective immediately.

Shaw House bookings will be at the discretion of the MD of Bonnyville’s administration following the turnover of the facility.

The move will also impact the Bonnyville and District Visitor Information Centre, which was previously operated by the Chamber.

During the transition period, the Visitor Information Centre will be operated by the MD out of its main municipal building starting June 13. Signage indicating this will be posted at the Shaw House.

A large location finder map will be placed at the Shaw House that will assist tourists with general inquiries and commonly asked questions, notes the Chamber.
