Bonnyville RCMP respond to calls of assault, mischief and suspicious activity

Over the last two weeks, Bonnyville RCMP members have responded to several serious calls within the Town of Bonnyville – many leading to charges being laid.

BONNYVILLE – A report of suspicious activity in the back alley of 39 St. near 47 Ave. led to the arrest of a man in possession of methamphetamine. 

On April 12, just before 9 a.m., the Bonnyville RCMP received a report of suspicious activity. 

When members attended and spoke with everyone at the scene, they determined one individual was breaching his release conditions, according to a press release from RCMP. 

The man was arrested and allegedly found to have methamphetamine on his person.   

He was charged with failing to comply with conditions as well as possession of meth.   

The man was brought before a Justice of the Peace and was released. He is set to appear in Provincial Court on May 3. 

Bonnyville man wakes to punches 

Over the noon hour on April 13, the Bonnyville RCMP received a 911 call reporting an assault had just happened at a residence located between 51 Ave. and 53 Ave. along 51 St.   

Responding officers were told by the victim that he had been sleeping and “woke up to fists,” as he was being punched in the face. 

The suspect was immediately located and arrested. 

The 38-year-old man from Bonnyville was charged with assault causing bodily harm and has been remanded in custody, according to RCMP. 

Bonnyville man charged with mischief 

On April 17 at 11:30 p.m. Bonnyville RCMP received a call from a complainant stating a man was trying to fight them.   

When the complainant declined to engage in a fight, the suspect kicked the complainant’s vehicle, damaging it, state RCMP. 

The suspect was located and arrested. 

The 18-year-old man from Bonnyville faces a charge of mischief and will appear in Provincial Court on July 26.
