ST. PAUL - County of St. Paul municipal campgrounds will remain closed until at least June 25 following a decision of county council Tuesday.

CAO Sheila Kitz expressed administration’s concern about the re-opening of the province and how it will affect the operation of the County’s municipal campgrounds, which includes Floatingstone, Lac Bellevue, Stoney Lake and Westcove.

“Administration at this time is recommending that we further delay the opening of the county campgrounds until June 25 tentatively, to provide administration with the proper time to prepare for opening with the conditions that are being outlined by the province in regards to the health order and how we could effectively implement the health order and still keep the campers safe and our staff safe on site,” Kitz said.

Anyone that has booked campsites prior to June 25 online will be refunded their camping fees as well as not be charged the $5 cancellation fee, which instead will be covered by the county.

The recommendation received the full support of council members. Council will revisit the June 25 timeline as that date draws near and the situation at that time can be reassessed.

If you made a reservation for a date in June that is before June 25, you will receive an email from Camp Reservations Canada to rebook for a different date or to receive a refund.

To modify your reservation email [email protected] or call Camp Reservations Canada at 1-587-331-6320.

Guidelines and restrictions for operation of the county parks due to COVID-19 will be posted prior to opening.
