Dance camp leaps through its third year

Dancers film special piece for Dancing in the Park initiative

ST. PAUL - A handful of young dancers spent some time learning a few new moves during the St. Paul & District Arts Foundation's third annual summer dance camp.

From July 27 to 31, dancers between the ages of seven and 10 years old took part in the camp, and from Aug. 3 to 7 the camp was opened up to dancers between the ages of 11 and 18.

"This is our third year doing a summer dance camp," said instructor Anna Pratch. During the camps, each group worked on a piece that was filmed for their friends and family, as well as for Dancing in the Park, an Edmonton dance festival that has gone online as a precaution due to COVID-19. The local dances were filmed at Lagasse Park in St. Paul.

"They learned ballet, hip hop, jazz, and contemporary, and did lots of crafts," said Pratch.
