A Lakeland resident is one of eight people RCMP say were involved in a reported home invasion in Lloydminster in June.

LAKELAND - An Elk Point-area man is one of several people charged in connection with an alleged home-invasion that police say took place in Lloydminster in June of this year.

Two people were seriously injured in the incident, reportedly suffering life threatening injuries. On August 16, police released information about the file and a list of eight people facing charges, including 37 year old Troy Cross from the Elk Point area. Others charged include three adults from the Onion Lake area, one man from Edmonton, another from Wetaskiwin, one from the Sweetgrass First Nation in Saskatchewan and another from Saskatoon.

Only four of the suspects are currently in custody. RCMP say they are still searching for Cross and three others.

All eight are facing charges of break and enter with intent.

The charges stem from a June 11 response to a reported home invasion in the area of 39 Street and 57 Avenue near the Lloydminster Comprehensive High School. Preliminary information from police suggests that eight individuals were involved in the incident where an altercation ensued and shots were fired. Two individuals suffered life-threatening injuries but are said to be recovering.

The incident forced RCMP to issue an advisory to residents about a large police presence in the area, but said at the time that there was no immediate danger to residents.

Police say Kyle Soosay, 34, from Onion Lake, Terrance Stonechild, 36, from Wetaskiwin and Warren Littlewolf from Edmonton are all in custody awaiting a September 3 court appearance in Lloydminster's Alberta Court of Justice. Valence Wapass, 39, from Onion Lake is currently waiting for a bail hearing.

Wanted

RCMP are continuing to search for Troy Cross, as well as 45-year-old Richard Cross from Saskatoon, 20-year-old Aimery Thunderblanket of the Sweetgrass First Nation and Louisa Wahpistikwan, 27, from Onion Lake.

Lloydminster RCMP urge anyone who may know the whereabouts of the three wanted individuals to contact Lloydminster RCMP at 780-808-8400 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

"We understand that sharing information can sometimes be difficult, but your cooperation is vital to ensure the safety and well-being of our community. Every detail counts, and your contribution could make a significant difference," said Alberta RCMP Public Information Officer Const. Cory Riggs.
