ELK POINT - A 2003 graduate of F. G. Miller High School was honoured on International Women’s Day by Locelle, a private digital mentorship platform for women in the workplace, as one of Alberta’s women executives who are breaking bias against women in the workplace in a big way.

Maureen Moneta, daughter of Isabel and Marshall Myshaniuk, is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and has earned her designation with the Institute of Corporate Directors. In the past 15 years, she has built a reputation as a caring and resilient leader committed to strengthening the community.

That community is widespread in the Edmonton area.

Of Métis heritage – her mother and Métis Nation of Alberta president Audrey Poitras are sisters - Maureen became the Senior Executive Officer with Rupertsland Institute, with its focus on enhancing the self-sufficiency and well-being of Métis in Alberta through quality education, training and research, on Jan. 31 of this year.

Maureen herself has focused her career on the nonprofit sector and worked with the International Union of Operating Engineers and Habitat for Humanity Edmonton before joining the University Hospital Foundation in 2015.

A strong believer in giving back to her community, in 2020 the mother of two was elected by her CPA peers to the CPA Alberta Board and in the past had governance roles with both the Edmonton Community Foundation and Allen Gray Continuing Care Centre.

Two years ago, Maureen’s leadership was recognized by the Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta with an Early Achievement Award, and was also recognized by Edify Magazine with an Edmonton Top 40 under 40 Award.
