Four deaths linked to Smoky Lake outbreak

SMOKY LAKE - A COVID-19 outbreak declared at George McDougall – Smoky Lake Healthcare Centre on Dec. 9 has now resulted in four deaths. 

To date, 12 individuals associated with the facility have tested positive for the virus and four deaths are associated with this outbreak, according to a Jan. 7 update from Alberta Health Services.  

“We offer our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of these individuals at this difficult time,” reads the AHS update. 

Visitors to the hospital are still being restricted.

"We encourage families to continue to meet virtually with their loved ones," says AHS.
