ST. PAUL - The St. Paul Jr. B Canadiens wrapped up the regular season with a dominating win against the Vermilion Tigers on Friday night at the Clancy Richard Arena.
St. Paul's Brendan Levasseur was the first to score, with a lone first period goal, assisted by Teagan Densmore and Logan Higdon.
The second period would be dominated by the home team, with two power play goals coming from Kurtis Labant, a shorthanded goal from Nicholas Beaudoin, and a goal from William Chemago.
Heading into the third period, St. Paul was ahead 5-0. Labant would grab one more goal to complete the hat trick.
The Tigers showed a bit of life with a goal of their own in the third period, but the Canadiens would not stop pushing, and Chemago would grab a goal of his own, after assisting on three of the previous goals.
St. Paul goalie Bradley Mistol would stop 23 of 24 shots. The Canadiens would take a total of 52 shots on the Tigers' goalie over three periods of play.
The Canadiens finished the regular season in second place in the six-team league, just four points behind the first-place Wainwright Bisons. The Killam Wheat Kings sit in third place.
Making up the bottom half of the standings are the Vermilion Tigers in fourth place, the Cold Lake Ice in fifth place, and the Lloydminster Bandits in sixth place.
According to the NEAJBHL scoring leaders board, the Canadiens have three players in the top 10 list - Labant, Chemago and Beaudoin.
