GALLERY: Showcase for National Indigenous Peoples Day draws a crowd

The stands at the RJ Lalonde Arena were filled with community members, public officials and students from several Bonnyville schools on June 21 who came to celebrate and acknowledge Indigenous Peoples Day.

BONNYVILLE -To celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day recognized on June 21, the Bonnyville Friendship Centre hosted an arts showcase at the Bonnyville and District Centennial Centre, which featured performers from around Alberta and beyond.

The stands at the RJ Lalonde Arena were filled with community members, public officials and students from several Bonnyville schools.

Dignitaries that attended the event include Town of Bonnyville Mayor Elisa Brosseau, Bonnyville Regional Fire Chief Dan Heney, Executive Director of the Bonnyville Friendship Centre (BFC) Lauri Fitzpatrick, BFC Community Initiatives Coordinator Janet Gobert and BFC President Rick Jerome.
