Total amount of snow is expected to reach 10 to 20 cm, before gradually tapering off later today, according to Environment Canada.

Motorists are reporting blowing snow and extremely poor visibility on area highways.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

School bus cancellations

Lakeland Catholic School Division and Northern Lights Public School Division (NLPS) have cancelled all bus routes for the day (Dec. 14). However, buses continue to run in the St. Paul Education Division.

In a statement NLPS informed parents that regular classes will be going ahead, but "programming may be modified if large numbers of students are absent."

If students will be absent due to bus cancellations, or for any other reason, school divisions request parents report their child's absence.

"Safety is our top priority and we want to ensure that all students who plan to attend today arrive at school safely," read a statement released by NLPS.
