Hope Haven fundraising event for Feb. 10 postponed to later date

Residents invited to contact shelter directly for details on re-scheduled event

LAC LA BICHE - The Hope Haven Women’s Shelter fundraising Casino Night slated for February 10 has been postponed.

Planning for the fundraiser that brings awareness — and revenues — to the Lac La Biche-based shelter was put on hold last week due to unforeseen circumstances, say shelter officials.

Organizers hope to re-schedule another fundraising event in the next few months — likely an invite-only event. Anyone looking for more information about the upcoming fundraising plans can contact the shelter for more details.

The Hope Haven Women’s Shelter has been operating in Lac La Biche since 1991 and currently operates from a facility that has seven bedrooms and is licensed to house a maximum of 21 women and children. Hope Haven operates an emergency shelter, a site for second-stage housing, and affordable, long term transitional housing for clients. The shelter's service are accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week with a dedicated crisis line. The organization also offers on-site programming resources and outreach education.

A substantial portion of required funding for Hope Haven’s operations are gathered through local and regional fundraising initiatives.

More information about upcoming events or details on sponsorship opportunities can be found by calling the shelter directly at 780-623-3100.
