Joint RCMP operation leads to one arrest and a warrant for another suspect

A joint investigation by Bonnyville and Lac La Biche RCMP into a break and enter that occurred at an oil site north of Glendon has led to the arrest of a 29-year-old from Lac La Biche and a warrant for the arrest of a 36-year-old man from Beaver Lake Cree Nation.
RCMP are investigating a string of break-ins and thefts that occurred in the Olds and Bowden area around the first week of August.

BONNYVILLE – RCMP have arrested one man and identified another who are suspected of breaking into a CNRL oil lease site on June 16.

The suspects who were seen on video surveillance entering an oil site, located on Range Road 485 A several miles North of Glendon, were traced back to a residence in Beaver Lake Cree Nation near Lac La Biche, according to a Bonnyville RCMP media release.

The suspect allegedly stole a battery and gasoline from the CNRL site.

With the assistance of the Lac La Biche RCMP, both suspects were identified and found to have committed similar offences in Beaver Lake Cree Nation, states RCMP.

On July 6, Demien Rosenkranz, a 29-year-old from Lac La Biche, was charged with breaking and entering a business with intent and theft under $5,000.

“After executing a search warrant, the Lac La Biche RCMP have also charged him with possession of property over $5,000, and possession of property under $5,000,” continued the statement.

Rosenkranz was remanded in custody and will appear in court later this month.

The Bonnyville detachment was unable to provide the date or location of the 29-year-old’s court appearance prior to press deadline, as the case is being processed in another jurisdiction.

Accomplice at large

A 36-year-old man from Beaver Lake Cree Nation suspected of being an accomplice in the break-in remains at large while a warrant for his arrest has been filed with the courts.

Once the suspect is apprehended, police intend to charge the male suspect with breaking and entering a business with intent, theft over $5,000, possession of break-in tools and mischief under $5,000.

A search warrant that was executed by Lac La Biche RCMP at the 36-year-old's residence resulted in 16 additional charges related to criminal offences being laid. These charges have not yet been identified by police.

A court date will be set once following the arrest of the Beaver Lake man.
