LAC LA BICHE - A Christmas concert is taking place at the Lac La Biche Mission on Sunday, Dec. 3. The early season event will feature a performance by Edmonton-based group VIF String Quartet.

Christelle Shepherd, the site administrator at the Mission, said the concert will be held in the old church on grounds of the provincial and national historic site at 2 p.m.

There are no pre-sale tickets available for the event, and a silver-collection admission is on a first come, first serve basis — with limited seating available.

“We will have 60 places,” Shepherd said. “Doors will open at 1:30 p.m. Entry will be by donation to keep it accessible for everyone in our community.”

The VIF String Quartet will play many well-known Christmas songs on violin and cello.

Shepherd said there is also a chance that students from a local school may come and sing for the opening act.

The afternoon concert is one of a number of events hosted at the Lac La Biche Mission throughout the year.

Shepherd said money raised through the donations from the concert as well as previous events enables the supporters of the site to host more activities and raise more awareness about the site, the history and the people of the community.
