LAKELAND - While not all the measures announced on Thursday afternoon have a direct impact on the Lakeland region, a number of the new restrictions, aimed at slowing the spread of COVID-19 do.
Many of the measures announced apply to communities on the enhanced list, which includes Smoky Lake County, County of St. Paul and MD of Bonnyville regions, and all the communities that fall within those regions, however, the City of Cold Lake is not on the enhanced list.
Mandatory measures in place for much of the region include: restaurants, bars, lounges and pubs must stop liquor sales by 10 p.m. and close by 11 p.m.; a 15-person limit on social and family gatherings (indoors and outdoors), is also in place, along with a 50-person limit on indoor and outdoor wedding ceremonies and funeral services.

Voluntary restrictions
Thursday's announcement encouraged people not to hold any social gatherings inside their homes, or attend any gatherings outside their community. The province is also asking people to limit themselves to three cohorts - a core household cohort, a school cohort, and one other sport of social cohort. Children who attend child care can be part of four cohorts.
Mask wearing continues to be encouraged in all indoor work settings, except when alone in a workspace, or where an appropriate barrier is in place.
Employers are also being asked to implement measures to reduce the number of employees in a workplace at one time.
Faith-based gatherings are being limited to 1/3 capacity.
Additional measures apply to the Calgary area and Edmonton area, and the cities of Fort McMurray, Grande Prairie, Lethbridge and Red Deer.
