Raffle raising funds for Portage College special Indigenous space in its final hours

Raffle

The month-long online raffle to raise local funding for an Indigenous Cultural Space inside the Lac La Biche campus of Portage College is into its last hours.  The deadline to purchase raffle tickets is one second before midnight, Wednesday, April 21.

Tickets are available online here.

The Indigenous Cultural Space will serve as a concrete and spiritual center-piece for our students, staff and community. It will provide a space to educate and participate in spiritual and cultural events. This project is keeping with Portage’s strong Indigenous roots and will benefit students and staff for years to come.

Hosted by the Portage College Athletic Association, the raffle funds will  go to support buying equipment, furniture and supplies for the Indigenous Cultural Space. A federal grant was received by Portage for a portion of the project last year. The grant covers about 40 per cent of the overall costs for the centre, say college officials.

"This project is keeping with Portage’s strong history and working with the First Nations and Métis people in our area. The cultural space will benefit students and staff for years to come,” says Nancy Broadbent, President and CEO of Portage College. “We are very grateful for the community and government support for this initiative and to the PCAA for organizing the raffle.”
