Retired teachers walk for wellness

Despite the gusty weather making it feel significantly colder than the seasonal 15 degrees, members of the North East Alberta Retired Teacher's Association walked from Reunion Station in St. Paul on June 7.

ST. PAUL - Despite the gusty weather making it feel significantly colder than the seasonal 15 degrees, members of the North East Alberta Retired Teacher's Association took a walk that began at Reunion Station in St. Paul on June 7.

It was one of several walks being held across Alberta, which also serve as a drop-off point for donations to local food banks.

Larry Lambert is the president of both NEARTA and the St. Paul and District Food Bank. He said the walk is an annual event held during Seniors' Week each year.

"ARTA supports an engaged lifestyle after retirement through member-centred services, advocacy, communication, wellness, and leadership," said Lambert.

He said the northeast branch includes St. Paul, Elk Point, Bonnyville, and Cold Lake. Their next meeting will be in Glendon on June 10.
