SADDLE LAKE - A Saddle Lake man has been charged in connection with the July 8 death of 55-year-old Faron Houle of Saddle Lake.

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit (MCU) has laid a second degree murder charge against Peter Faron Cardinal, 38, after St. Paul RCMP was responded to a complaint of "an unwanted male at a residence," states a RCMP media release.

The man had left the residence by the time police arrived on scene. At that time, they were advised that "a male was believed to be deceased. Despite the responding RCMP officer initiating first aid efforts, EMS declared Faron Houle deceased."

The death was determined to be suspicious, and the RCMP MCU took over the investigation, with the assistance of the Forensic Identification Section.

On July 10, Cardinal was arrested and charged in connection with the death. Cardinal was remanded in custody and a court appearance is scheduled for July 30 in St. Paul Provincial Court.

The RCMP are not looking for any further suspects related to this incident.
