Spring cleaning along provincial highways

Highway ditches look a little cleaner after annual provincial highway clean-up efforts took place on Saturday.

ELK POINT - Elk Point 4-H Beef Club made short work of cleaning the Highway 41 ditches from Moosehills Road to one mile south of Highway 646, including both entrances to town, with 33 members, leaders and parents filling up numerous bright orange trash bags and getting the annual spring cleanup done in just under two hours.

The provincial highway cleanup program is held on the first or second Saturday in May every year, weather permitting. All non-profit groups or clubs are encouraged to participate as a fundraising opportunity, according to the Government of Alberta.
